🔗 80/20 Principle - Link Your Way to the Top: SEO Hacks for Small Teams

Hey!

I’m a big fan of the 80/20 principle, it’s the idea that 80% of your results will likely come from only 20% of your work, and with SEO it’s no different.

🎯 The 80/20 SEO Focus

Sure, you can focus on meta tags and alt text for images, but where does the majority of the impact come from? Let's zero in on the 20% of SEO efforts that drive 80% of the results:

  1. Backlinks from Authoritative Sites: A few quality backlinks from respected sites in your industry can outweigh hundreds of low-quality links. Backlinks are the number one factor in determining SEO viability and cannot be overlooked.

  2. High-Quality Content: Quality content comes 2nd to backlinks, create valuable, in-depth content that answers your audience's burning questions. This is the foundation of all good SEO.

  3. User Experience: Ensure your site loads quickly, is mobile-friendly, and is easy to navigate. Google loves sites that users love. Google Lighthouse is great for checking this.

  4. Keyword Targeting: Focus on a handful of high-impact keywords rather than trying to rank for everything. The trick is finding transactional keywords that have a low KD (keyword difficulty) while having as much traffic as possible. Use Ahref’s tool for this.

By concentrating on these core areas, you'll get the most bang for your SEO buck, especially when you're working with limited resources. Remember, it's not about doing everything - it's about doing the right things exceptionally well.
